Unlike Raw Linseed Oil, Boiled Linseed Oil is processed with special additives to shorten drying time (usually 12-18 hours). It extends and fortifies oil-based paints and coatings creating a quality finish on fine wood and antiques. As a thinner, it improves the flow and gloss of exterior oil-based paints. Boiled Linseed Oil brings out the classic finish and natural tones and grain patterns of wood. Boiled linseed oil penetrates and seals unfinished wood surfaces protecting against scratches, nicks, and watermarks.
